YouTube How-To of the Week, Vol. 001

Hello lovelies :)

Much of what I know about makeup has come to be enmeshed in my brain cells due to an inordinate amount of time spent watching YouTube videos. Specifically hunting down the Gurus, who are frequent posters who have a widespread audience and are typically beauty professionals themselves. Other Gurus are just really intense amateurs who love all things beauty.

One of the features you’ll see regularly on this blog is the spotlighting of a YouTube Guru that I love to watch and have probably learned quite a bit from. I love to stumble upon one of these vloggers and go through their videos, looking out for new brands or tricks that I hadn’t heard of before. That’s one of the best selling points of YouTube, I think, is to be able to learn so much from the people doing what you’re interested in!

Today’s Guru is Wayne Goss, a makeup artist in the UK who seems to be quite successful. I’ve Googled him to find more information, but there’s not much available. I’m only really in it for the makeup aspect anyway, so I’ll live. ;) I really appreciate his viewpoint because he seems so knowledgeable in the old-school ways of applying makeup and the history of the industry, and he cuts through the unnecessary fluff. He’s always pointing out what you do and don’t need to be successful professionally or in your personal daily routines, making sure to point out what’s just hype. The accent doesn’t hurt, either. ;)

Wayne’s talking about blush in this video and how to apply it:

I hope you were able to pick up some new information and I’ll see you soon!

Much love,

Laura
