A New Year, A New Highlighter

Happy New Year!

My husband and I went home to North Carolina to spend time with family and friends. We had a fantastic time, and I managed to splurge on a new product that I want to share with you today.

I still can’t believe I bought it, but that’s what happens when everybody leaves me alone at the Chanel counter!

I was talking with the incredibly sweet woman at the counter and was immediately drawn to the Spring 2013 collection…including this gorgeous highlighter.

The packaging is intense!

The product doesn’t come with an applicator inside the compact, but instead comes with a sponge that fits inside the covering.

I think this would apply way too much product and I’ve just left it in the package.

I think the little domed covering is interesting, though I’m not sure how much protection it provides.

I love the imprint! If you look closely, you can see little lipstick and lipgloss tubes, as well as various sized CC’s. What sold me on this product wasn’t how it looks in the pan, however. It sort of looks standard to me…

But I LOVED how it looked once swatched. It’s so smooth, finely milled, and subtle, and the sheen is just gorgeous.

I want to do a look with it and photograph it, and hopefully, you’ll be able to see it. (Not sure about my skills for shooting Subtle Glow shots, but I’ll do my best!)

My only critique for this product is the packaging. It’s just so…much. The compact isn’t as heavy as I expected and I think it feels a bit cheap, considering. They could leave the velvet wrapping and put more into the compact itself, in my opinion.

Of course, the price is hefty, seeing as it’s by Chanel, but I was in a splurging mood. Pretty sure I won’t be spending this much on one product for a looong time!
