Gettin’ a Little Naked with CK One Color

One of the biggest beauty surprises recently has been the CK One Color line- specifically the lip colors. I wrote about one of the lip glosses not too long ago here, and I have one of the Shine Lipsticks to review today.

I bought shade 800-Naked (WHAT?! Laura bought a nude lip color? YOU LIE.) and I couldn’t be happier. It’s hydrating, sheer, and goes with just about anything. Even in the picture above, you can see how shiny the bullet is.

In the swatch above, the left swipe is just one pass of the lipstick, while the right side is multiple passes. Usually, one or two passes is plenty for me, and I actually think if this was opaque, I wouldn’t like the color. It’s a little on the red-side of nude, and I do prefer mine a bit more brown. However, since it’s not opaque, it works really well for me. Because the lipstick is so emollient, I get between 1-2 hours of wear time.

Of course, this color ends up being one of those my-lips-but-better shades and hard to see much of a difference on. Just how I like it.

I’ve played with the rest of the shades in this line, and I’m really looking forward to buying more! ;) You can find the CK One Color Shine Lipsticks exclusively at Ulta stores and Ulta.com for $16.

So. It’s Monday again. We can do this! Let’s keep talking about beauty products and we’ll make it through just fine.

Maybelline Summer 2013 Color Whisper Lipstick and Master Drama Eye Liner Swatches

Beauty Gala readers, thanks for clicking through! I hope you’ll hang out for a while.

Yesterday, I showed swatches of the Color Tattoos, and today, as the horribly creative title suggests, I have two of the new Color Whispers and the two Master Drama eye liners to show.

Again, this is simply for swatching purposes only; any performance or quality reviews will come later.

I found my products at my local Ulta store. The lipsticks were $7.49 and the eye liners were $7.99 (same price for permanent products).

Swatches of Ravishing Pink (L) and Sienna Sands (R). The bolder swatch is multiple passes of the product, the lighter is just one swipe.

Just like with the other Color Whispers, the product is smooth and creamy feeling, without being heavy. The color is buildable, as you can see, and both are shiny and (hopefully) moisturizing. Love that pink!

Navy Knockout (L) and Taupe Takeover (R): The bold stripe is multiple passes and the lighter swatch is one swipe.

I love the Master Drama formula and these don’t seem to differ from the creamy formula of the regular line. They applied on my hand smoothly and easily. Navy Knockout is lighter than what I consider to be a true navy, but I really like it nonetheless. I’m so in to taupe eyeliner right now, even though they don’t show up well on my lids. (I end up wearing them on the bottom lash line.)

Have you seen this collection out yet? It’s going fast! My Ulta has just about sold out of all the products…

Be sure to follow me on Twitter @newshinebeauty and on Instagram at Newshinebeauty to get sneak peeks of these products in action!

Happy Humpday!

A Life Full of Chaos and Lipgloss

Once I graduated from college, I really thought life would be a bit simpler. I was working full time, taking a full course load, living states away from my family and boyfriend, and trying to figure out how to be an adult all at the same time. I assumed that once school was out of the equation, I would have all this free time to pursue what I wanted, not what the registrar said I had to in order to complete my degree. Hello, reality check.

Now we’ve moved even farther away and I’m still working full time, but I don’t feel like I have any extra time. I still feel like life is as chaotic as it was during my senior year, which is really annoying. (It doesn’t help that I don’t work a typical 9 to 5.) I need to step back from my current life and see what I can simplify. Spreading out household chores throughout the week instead of all on one day? Yes. Getting rid of all the stuff that just sits around and NEVER gets used so someone else can enjoy it? Most def. Finding that one lipgloss that works with everything so I can eliminate a few extra minutes before work? Well, at least I can check that one off the list. (You were wondering how that was going to happen, yes?)

CK One Lipgloss in Tender

CK One Lipgloss in Tender

CK One Color recently launched at Ulta and Ulta.com exclusively, and contrary to my suspicions, it’s a really good line. Once the display was out and I gave it a look-see, I immediately honed in on this oh-so-perfect nude-pink gloss. Could it scream my name any more??

As soon as I swatched this in the store, I knew. I just knew. It was meant to be. I was blown away by how smooth and non-sticky this line is, yet the glosses are creamy and substantial. They smell like MAC lipsticks, only a bit stronger, though it does fade within a couple of minutes on the lips.

The only complaint I have is that the applicator pulls out a lot of excess product, even for someone with larger lips like myself. If the neck was a little bit smaller, I think it would wipe off just enough.

Wearing CK One Lipgloss in Tender

Like I said before, I’ve been completely impressed with this line. The prices are reasonable for a prestige line and the quality seems to be exceeding the price point. The lipgloss is priced at $15 for .23 fl oz. (a MAC LipGlass is .17 fl oz.).

Have you swatched or purchased any of these? Let me know in the comments!!

Also, if you have any tips for simplifying life a bit, please let me know that, too. :)

(I am clothed, though you can’t see it.)

I tried something new yesterday- I wore ridiculously bold, deep, red lips. The lipstick was NYX’s Snow White (LSS 569), which has a satin finish. And I LOVED IT!

After a while, though, I grew tired of the maintenance. I did have to touch up and reapply to keep the color true (I wouldn’t have had to if I had worn lip liner).

A year ago, I never would have worn such a bold lip and been completely comfortable. Progress is a beautiful thing.

From a beauty standpoint, what are you afraid of?

A New Favorite… Lipstick

Very rarely do I find a lipstick that I want to wear…with everything. I can throw it on with darker eye looks and it doesn’t compete, and yet I still slap it on with a neutral face and it makes me look polished and presentable. BAM. Lustres are my favorite finish from MAC because they’re lightweight and hydrating for me.

New standard? Me thinks YES.

What lip product is always in your bag?
