(The filter on the photo above makes my skin look incredible and flawless, but I assure you, it isn’t.)
Just a little preview of a video I shot today. I had some issues and I felt like a dork, but I did it. Now on to editing in between working, and hopefully it will be up this week. Hope you like!
I found these Wild Mountain Blueberry K-Cups at Kohl’s yesterday. I think they would be great with Sunday morning pancakes!
Speaking of coffee, now might be a good time to make yourself a cup of awesome and check out a couple of videos! I uploaded a May/June Hits and Misses recently and a collective haul just today!
(A note about the videos:
I recently was given a new video camera that is supposed to shoot in HD. Between learning how to use the camera and not having great light sources just yet, the videos have been dark in one and grainy in both! GRR! Very frustrating, but if you’ll be patient, I promise I’ll figure it out!)
May/June Hits and Misses:
Collective Haul- July 2012
This week has been wacky and I’m thoroughly glad to see the weekend! As always, thanks for reading/watching, and I hope your weekend is fantabulous!
This past week, after much technological frustration, I was finally able to upload my March 2012 Hits and Misses video. Sometimes, as much as I love my gadgets, I still feel like throwing them against a wall.
What I forgot to include in the video, however, was one of my favorite lipsticks EVER that just so happens to be limited edition. I want to make sure I talk about it while there are still some available if you want to grab yourself one (or four), too.
Love these little things.
MAC's Oh Oh Oh, from the MAC Me Over Collection
Oh Oh Oh is a beautiful color! It’s a Lustre finish, which means that it’s sheerer than the other finishes, but is still very buildable. The bullet looks much more brown-ish red than it really is. Let’s check out some swatches, shall we?
One swipe on the top, built up to more opaque coverage on the bottom.
Oh Oh Oh almost has a golden raspberry thing going on, which I hesitate to say because “raspberry” is not usually a color I can comfortably wear. It’s definitely warm-toned, but I almost think cooler tones could wear it without issue.
The lighting here is a little bit warmer, but I included it for your reference. 'Cause ya know, I'm here for you.
And on my lips…
Naked lips. (Not recommended for children under the age of 17.) (HA!)
Ooo, la la!
I love this color!!! I don’t typically wear darker colors on the daily, but with Oh Oh Oh, I feel like I can rock some color on my lips without feeling “done up”. It’s not a high-maintenance color, either. You can apply this without a mirror and not look like the Joker from Batman afterwards.
For some people, MAC’s Lustre finishes are drying, but for me, they’re really easy and comfortable to wear. I wouldn’t say they’re great moisturizers, but I definitely don’t have issues with them.
More color referencing. (And fun.)
I’ve been wearing this with Wet ‘n Wild’s Nutty and MAC’s Satin Taupe primarily. And again, I’ve been wearing this A LOT over the past month. Maybe a tutorial coming up?
So what do you think? Is this something you would wear? If you want to get your lips on some of this, you may want to order soon. It’s been on the website for a while now, and soon you may only be able to find it at a CCO (Cosmetics Company Outlet). Grab your tube of Oh Oh Oh here.

I have a new video up about the different types of face brushes and their uses. For some of you, this may be too basic or fundamental, but for others, this may be a great guide if you’re just getting started. In it, I discuss various foundation brushes, as well as blush, powder, and concealer. I also talk about my favorite brushes and why they’re a great alternative to MAC and other more expensive brands.
I hope you’ll check it out and let me know what you think!
How are you? I hope everything is going well. I still don’t have Internet in my apartment, thanks to a myriad of reasons, so that is my excuse for the gaps in posting. BUT. I am excited to bring you a new YouTube video!!
I started a YouTube channel on behalf of the blog, and though it’s been slow going, I’m having a blast with it.
The newest video is a haul, where I show you some of the items I’ve purchased recently. I’m not really reviewing any products yet, mainly because I haven’t been using them long enough to give an accurate description of how they work. Those will come later.
Check out the first NewShineBlogTV video here if you missed it, and I hope you enjoy the new one!
Just so you know, the products featured and discussed on this blog were purchased with the author's own money, unless something crazy happens and companies start sending her products! The companies featured and discussed have nothing to do with new shine (their loss!).
All of the reviews are honest, the opinion of the author, and not sponsored in any way. Thanks for reading!
