Hello lovelies!!
How was your holiday weekend? Ours was HOT. DC has been so humid and warm, which is not my cup of tea. Dane and I went to the National Memorial Day concert at the Capitol building on Sunday evening, and about halfway through, we were evacuated due to an oncoming storm. Fortunately, we had been able to see quite a bit before having to leave. The band Daughtry was there:
Gary Sinise and Joe Mantegna have been hosting the event since 2006.
A shot of the Capitol on the way out of the lawn:
It was a really great experience and helped put the focus of the holiday back on the military and their families instead of on BBQs, though we did that too.

A while back, I featured a video from Marlena of MakeupGeek.com. She’s a really sweet woman who’s built a great brand and business that all started from YouTube videos. She came out with a makeup line, starting with eye shadows, and I have a couple to share with you today.
The shadows come in pan-form inside this little cardboard packaging. This makes it easy for you to insert the pan into one of your own palettes, or you can buy an individual compact (similar to MAC’s). The shadows are the same size as individual MAC shadows, so if you already have a MAC palette, Makeup Geek shadows will fit in them too. The colors on the package are really fun and bright!
Sensuous is a shimmery purplish bronze, very similar to MAC Trax eye shadow, which is one of my all-time faves. Sensuous is not quite sheer, but the color just doesn’t lend itself to being very concentrated either. I LOVE this color and I can tell you that I definitely don’t wear it enough.
This shade has a really smooth, blendable texture and is very easy to work with. It’s not too powdery, and it’s really easy to load up a brush to apply the shadow. I hate hard, dry eye shadows!
The next shade I have for you is Cupcake. (The packaging is exactly the same, so I just skipped those photos.)
Cupcake is a matte dirty mauve shade, and I bought it to be a crease color. I wear it with a matte or shimmery cream shade and it really makes my brown eyes stand out!
Though I really like this color, the shadow is chalkier than what I prefer and I have to work a bit harder to get it to show up on my skin, which I think has more to do with the color instead of the texture. It’s a very natural shade on me and I use it when I want to be polished but not obvious.
Overall, I really like these shadows. I love Sensuous’ complexity, and while it may be chalky, Cupcake makes for a really sophisticated look.
I have two more shades that I’ll be reviewing, so keep an eye out!
